The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Re: Metal Workshop Bench Space availability at Herriard near Basingstoke.

Bench space is available for Silversmiths and Jewellers in a well equipped workshop in a pretty rural setting with parking.

I have set up a metal workshop in Herriard for jewellers and silversmiths and am keen to find makers who would like to come and work together, in a mutually beneficial creative atmosphere. On Mondays the workshop is open to experienced makers who can get on with their own work, as we have no tutor. However we do help each other when needed, hopefully without stopping someone else getting on with their own project for too long. We bring our own lunch and sit and eat together and have a companionable time.

I charge £15 per day (£10 for half a day) and this includes the workshop facilities (but not consumables such as saw blades) but most of us prefer to use our own tools as much as possible. Makers should be familiar with safe working practice in the workshop and should know how to look after tools and work considerately.

I hope to hear from any interested makers,
