Profile Information

Place of Work:
western michigan university -- i place all of my work in hoover and strong boxes
Work Info:
i am a student.
i make drawings which then, out of thin air, become objects.
i just put up some miscellaneous photos of past work. the newest piece is the gray enameled brooch.

i like the idea of making something that is nothing in particular. everyone sees something in everything-- in a shape, in a line, in a color-- it is our way of identifying or making sense of what we see. thus, non-things - they could be something, but guess what, they aren't.

Hey Lynn--thanks for the comment on my work. Your work is quite lovely too!

To answer your question: yes, you are right about the wood. I also use a lot of mixed media materials and altered found objects, and then cover it all with liberal coatings of thick paint. I was trained as a metalsmith and learned a lot from all the instruction on how to work so precisely, so I know those influences still show up, somehow.
