To answer your question: yes, you are right about the wood. I also use a lot of mixed media materials and altered found objects, and then cover it all with liberal coatings of thick paint. I was trained as a metalsmith and learned a lot from all the instruction on how to work so precisely, so I know those influences still show up, somehow.

There is always a lot of activity on the site, so it would be great if you could uploaded some images of your artwork. Many of your fellow artists will be getting to see what you are doing and I am sure you will get some great feedback quickly. When you upload pictures, please use the main PHOTO link to do so.
