Event Description

Tubing Technical: An Exploration in Fabrication
Instructor: Alison Antelman
March 29 & 30, 2014
10am – 5pm

Tubing definition: a hollow form open at both ends, not necessarily round. Explore the myriad ways to make and use tubing. Join, bend, connect, latch, hang, set faceted trillion stones and hinge using tubing. Students will make a hinged pendant and set a trillion stone in a telescoped tube setting hanging from a bail made from bent tubing. A step-by-step handout with images and text is supplied. This is an intermediate level class, basic fabrication and soldering required. (Heads up: this will fill quickly – call 360-568-7709 to register)

Her work is published in Art Jewelry Today 3, 2011 by Schiffer Publishing, The San Francisco Chronicle article Five Jewelry Artists To Seek Out by Sylvia Rubin in 2011, Lark Books 500 Gemstone Jewels, the December 2011 issue of Lapidary Journal’s Jewelry Artist magazine featuring mechanisms and hinges, and the November 2010 issue of Lapidary Journal’s Jewelry Artist Magazine featuring Pendants.
Alison teaches classes and workshops at art centers including; Mendocino Art Center and Richmond Art Center in California, Sun Valley Center for Arts in Sun Valley, Idaho, and more..
As former President (2007-2011) of the San Francisco Metal Arts Guild, she enjoys proselytizing the word of metal arts. She is often found creating one-of-a-kind jewelry in her well-lit studio, The Sawtooth building in Berkeley, California. To see more of her work visit: www.antelman.com
