Event Description

Swivel Locket

1-Day Metals Workshop

Instructor: Nanz Aalund

April 11

10am – 5pm

Beginning to intermediate level
In this workshop, students will learn the simple processes needed to make a keepsake locket. Using, sawing, circle punching, sweat soldering and tube rivets, we will make a swivel locket in one day. The hinge for this locket is what makes this project so much fun! A variation of this locket, which includes cold connection & stone setting will be published this summer in Lapidary Journal/Jewelry Artist magazine. Learn to make this locket yourself directly from the author/goldsmith!
Course #10W411 $125. (Materials fee: $10.)

Over the past 25 years as a goldsmith and jewelry designer, Nanz Aalund has: taught jewelry and metals classes at the University of Washington and Art Institute in Seattle; served as a fine jewelry designer and consultant for Nordstrom, Rudolf Erdel, Neiman Marcus, and Tiffany & Co.; and was the associate editor for Art Jewelry magazine. Most recently, Nanz authored authored "Masters: Gold," published by Lark Books – and won First Place in the 2009 Jewelry Arts Awards for her gold and resin earrings.
