Wax Carving Intensive with Kate Wolf
April 11-15, 2011 from 9 am - 5 pm $1250 + $30 kit
Wax is an amazing material! It is ideal for creating complex curvilinear forms that would be difficult to fabricate in metal. Offering greater freedom and simpler methods than working directly in metal, wax can be carved and fashioned into a limitless range of models for casting. Take this workshop and learn innovative time saving approaches to carving wax models for casting. Discover how to transform scribbles into resolved designs. Learn precision layout. Watch and then carve your own bezels for cabochons and faceted stones. Learn flame techniques for wax; how to carve hollow forms and mirror images; how to contour fit shadow bands; how to do pierced out work, textures, faux granulation. Learn hollowing, finishing, repairing, tool making and more. Learn to use the flex shaft as an affordable lathe and milling processes while using Wolf Milling Wax by Ferris?. There will be live, highly magnified demos of many wax techniques.
Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experience.
Kate Wolf will also teach Figurative Wax Carving, April 16-17, 2011.
