The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Tutor profile: Christine Zock

German jeweller, Christine Zock is a pioneer in the use of Argentium silver. With over 20 years of goldsmithing experience, she is passionate about sharing her knowledge and was the first goldsmith in Germany to become an official Argentium instructor.

Complete three or more jewellery projects with this tarnish-resistant, environmentally friendly alloy, which doesn’t need soldering and learn how to apply 24k gold to your designs on Christine’s next course, 7-10 October. https://www.westdean.org.uk/study/short-courses/courses/s3d09158-ar...

Project Curator – Faberge Goldsmith to the World

Deadline: Midday 01 October 2019
Background
We are planning the first ever exhibition devoted to the British branch of the Imperial Russian Goldsmith Carl Fabergé. Fabergé’s works were as popular in Britain as they were in Russia and the only branch of the firm outside Russia was opened in London in 1903. It attracted a glittering clientele and quickly grew to rival those of St Petersburg and Moscow. The exhibition will examine the genesis of the firm in London and the work sold to the clients it served in Britain, Europe, North America and Asia.

Exciting inspiration at the Welcome Collection: Being Human

Now open | Free
Exploring trust, identity and health in a changing world, our new permanent gallery looks at what it means to be human in the 21st century.

Divided into four sections, Genetics, Minds & Bodies, Infection, and Environmental Breakdown, the new display presents around 50 artworks and objects that reflect our hopes and fears about new forms of medical knowledge, and our changing relationships with ourselves, each other and the world.

The British Council should be clearer about what it is trying to achieve through its international showcasing work to avoid an excessively commercial focus, a review commissioned by the organisation says. https://www.artsprofessional.co.uk/news/british-council-urged-clari...
