The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Hi

I'm not sure if any of you might be interested in the South Hill Park Silversmithing/Jewellery Artist in Residence???
I've attached the details, applications are open now.

THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE (JEWELLERY AND SILVERSMITHING)
1 POSTS
An exciting opportunity has opened to join the busy visual arts team at South Hill Park.
South Hill Park has five artists’ residencies for the visual arts, each of which is for up to two years. There is one residency for Printmaking, two for Silversmithing and one for Ceramics. These residencies are an important part of Visual Art activities at South Hill Park. The next Silversmithing residency is due to start in September 2013.
The application pack includes the following info:
Residencies information pack Job description
Sample studio timetable Application Form
Equal Opportunities Form

How to apply:
Please return the following documents to the Visual Arts Department:
Application form
Covering letter (max 2 pages) CV (max 4 pages)
For the covering letter, think about what evidence you can provide to demonstrate that you have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience. Explaining your current (and previous) jobs to someone else may help you uncover ‘hidden’ skills that you take for granted. You may also want to include voluntary/unpaid work experience, or experiencegained via a role of responsibility in one of your leisure pursuits if this is relevant to the requirements of the vacancy.

This year South Hill Park’s annual Student Open evolves into the SHP Summer Open 2013, inviting Berkshire-based artists and makers to submit their latest work in this opportunity to exhibit. Student work from South Hill Park’s courses will be displayed in the Mansion Galleries and the best entries from Berkshire artists will be exhibited in the Bracknell Gallery this August and September.

South Hill Park would like to invite all artists and makers who are living, working or studying in Berkshire to take part in the first open exhibition of its kind at the arts centre, which is set to showcase talent from across the county.

If you would like to be part of this fantastic exhibition, please download an application pack from our website and submit it to exhibitions.intern@southhillpark.org.uk by Mon 15 July.

Exhibition dates are Sat 3 Aug – Sun 22 Sept in South Hill Park's Bracknell Gallery.

With Best Wishes

‘spectrum’ is an exhibition that celebrates and highlights the diversity of the Jewellery & Silversmithing world. It showcases the work of 13 artists and designers all currently participating in the ‘Artist in Residence’ scheme at the School of Jewellery, which is part of Birmingham City University.
For one creative discipline to allow for such a wide array of outcomes is truly extraordinary and reflects the way in which the field of Jewellery & Silversmithing is forever growing and changing. ‘spectrum’ is a rare opportunity to see a comprehensive cross-section of the current emerging and established designers within this field. Each resident has a specialist interest within the discipline and chooses to convey their ideas in a myriad of different ways. Traditional precious materials sit alongside concrete, wood and even condoms, provoking a discussion of tastes, styles, identity and sense of place.
.................................................................................................................................................................
‘spectrum’ includes the work of:
Drew Markou, Hannah Fewtrell-Bolton, Laura Bradshaw Heap, Francesca Antonello, Ruth Laird, Grace Page, Julie Legault, Owen Condon, Rhianne Hutchinson, Christine Davies, Joanna Candlish, Zehava Hashai-Spellman and Amanda Trimmer
