Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Craft Rally comes to the West Dean Festival http://www.craftrally.org.uk/Can collaboration make an impact on your practice? Can working with others, sharing ideas and making objects in new contexts shift or invigorate your practice in one day? Come along to the next Craft Rally at the West Dean Festival and put these questions to the test.
The day is designed around what makers do best - making, thinking and conversation - so join us on Saturday 27 August at West Dean College and grounds. The setting provides a breathtaking backdrop for makers to come together and we would encourage you to enjoy the rest of the weekend at the West Dean Festival

http://www.eurocult.org/grants

We are always looking for projects by individuals and organisations that have the potential to inspire people to transcend boundaries.ECF’s grants programme stimulates transnational cultural collaboration, artistic expression and the mobility of artists and other cultural players. We do this because we believe artists and cultural organisations can play a powerful role in bringing positive change and a better understanding of Europe as a whole. The grants programme is devised as a two-way flow that empowers both the cultural scene and the ECF.We support all kinds of artistic and cultural expression: music, visual arts, theatre, dance, film, documentary, multimedia, photography, design, fashion and cultural-capacity building. Over the last five years, ECF has supported over 1000 projects across 56 countries (see the full list of countries below).ECF has three different grant schemesCollaboration Grants are awarded to cultural organisations working together across different countries in wider Europe (EU Europe and EU Neighbourhood region) on multidisciplinary artistic projects. Balkan Incentive Fund for Culture (BIFC) Grants are awarded to cultural initiatives conceived by organisations in, or cooperating with, the countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia). STEP Beyond Travel Grants are awarded to up-and-coming artists and cultural workers (priority is given to individuals up to 35 years and/or in the first 10 years of their career) travelling between EU and countries directly bordering the EU.ECF no longer operates the Artistic Grant scheme.

The Marsh Awards for Heritage Craft 2011

Deadline for submissions - 31 October 2011

The Heritage Crafts Association and the Marsh Christian Trust are delighted to offer two brand new awards for the heritage crafts sector. These awards will recognise and celebrate the exceptional individuals that contribute so much to our rich living heritage. The awards have been created to encourage the passing on of skills from one generation to another and to acknowledge the great work that volunteers do to raise the profile of heritage crafts across the UK. This year, there are two awards and the winner of each award will receive £500. The deadline for both is 31 October 2011. The award winners will be publically announced and presented with a cheque and certificate at the Heritage Crafts Association Spring Conference, March 2012.
