Assemble 2012: the Crafts Council Conference at RIBA, London. 20 September 2012

This year, the overarching theme for Assemble is the contribution craft makes to innovation and enterprise, and the relationship between making, science and technology

Makers work in a far greater range of contexts than is widely realised – bringing innovation and distinctive value to biotechnology, engineering, materials science, manufacturing and digital and communications technology. For scientists, engineers and technologists, collaboration with makers and other creative professionals can bring particular benefits and is capable of introducing new ways of thinking.

Conference sessions will focus on bioscience and high-end Manufacturing and will include panel discussions, workshops and other activities alongside keynote speakers.

Holts Academy of Jewellery are on the look out for new tutors to take on the roles of Retail Jewellery, Retail Business and Jewellery Manufacture.

The salary
With a baseline salary, generous training investment and a success \ bonus structure in place your ability to educate, motivate and inspire will see you earn a potential salary around £26,000 - £30,000+ after your training period.

Up to 25 days paid holiday, in addition to statutory UK holidays for full time posts and up to 20 for part time posts.

A generous and dedicated training and development programme Holts Academy of Jewellery will also be investing in your future, with Assessor Training, Teaching training, a personal training budget and numerous opportunities for continued professional development to expand your skills both in and out of the Academy, we are committed to your development.

The remit
Knowledge of the jewellery industry, jewellery manufacture and a strong evidence of competence in the sector are essential as is a commitment to undertake assessor training and other relevant teacher training qualifications. 

The ability to inspire, teach and administer the programme will be essential.

The post holder(s) will be entirely responsible for the delivery, support and quality measures for entire groups of qualification students across Level 2 and 3. These varied roles will play a vital part in the development and delivery of qualifications that meet the needs of learners and the jewellery industry.

Skills Required
Proven experience of previous performance within a similar role

Knowledge of the jewellery industry, jewellery manufacture or Retail / Business for appropriate vacancies and a strong evidence base of competence in the sector is essential

Jewellery qualification or equivalent professional experience

‘A’ Unit or TAQA level 3 or willingness to work towards within the first few months

Excellent communication skills

Self motivated to set and attain goals and to demonstrate the ability to meet performance standards and deadlines

Action-oriented, 'can do' attitude demonstrating willingness to accept accountability and responsibility for individual actions

Ability to overcome obstacles

Ability to prioritise workloads and take on ad hoc duties as required

Ability to work under pressure

Ability to embrace a proactive and creative approach to problem solving

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative

Excellent IT skills

Arts Award: Discover & Explore

This year Craft Club has joined up with Arts Award to offer a tailored package for their two new levels Discover and Explore. Selected leaders of Craft Clubs from London and the South East are currently piloting the new initiative, receiving training and achieving Arts Award Advisor status. The scheme will enable young people between ages 7 and 25 to gain their Discover and Explore levels through their participation with Craft Club.
