The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Wysing Arts Centre are inviting applications from artists for twelve six-week long residencies. The residencies are grouped into three ‘environments’ which take three metaphors as their starting points: The Cosmos, exploring the past/origins/knowledge; The Mirror, exploring the present/reflective/commentary; and The Forest, exploring the future/a return to nature/transformation.

Dates for the residencies are: The Cosmos 1 April-11 May, The Mirror 15 July – 24 August and The Forest 4 Nov – 16 Dec. £2,000 with a further £2,000 available for travel and production. Culture Lab and ISIS Arts are excited to be launching their second joint, open call for a Resident in 2012. An interest in one of the following topics is desirable but applications are also invited from candidates with other interests - Data Visualisation / Interactive Visualisation; New Ways of Interaction and Communication; Audiovisual and Sound Interfaces/ Biofeedback Applications; Digital Fabrication; Social, Cultural and Ethical Practice of Emerging Technologies.

Criteria: Blackpool Council is looking for expressions of interest from three artists, designers or creative enterprises who would like to be considered for our exciting new Project Object. Project Object is seeking three artists who will engage with Blackpool’s historic collections and built heritage to inspire a range of retail products. They will then undertake four weekly design sessions each with the community and then develop their work into saleable products.

Community engagement is a vital aspect of this project and the successful applicants will receive support from the Arts Engagement Manager with accessing local communities. The Simple Gallery is a small and attractive gallery space near the centre of Esher. With over 9m of hanging space as well as display surfaces, it is suitable for both art and craft exhibitions. Although the Simple Gallery is set in the peaceful grounds of Esher Friends Meeting House, it has a potential audience of up to 100 people a week, who attend classes and groups at the Meeting House.

The gallery is available for hire at £150 a week
