Cooperative Statement:
Sarah and I started our collaboration with a phone brainstorming session. We talked about how we could create a piece which dealt with a contemporary meal and tableware setting while incorporating the culture where we resided together in 2009, Milwaukee Wisconsin. After pondering our lifestyles in Wisconsin, fried food quickly came to mind as a staple of midwestern meals due to the boom of fast food chains which have rapidly spread across rural lands. We decided to stick to our Wisconsin similarities and focused on creating a piece which incorporated the classic Milwaukee Friday night fish fry held weekly at every local diner and church. "Home Fried" is an absurd take on eating a meal where every piece of the meal including the drink and utensils are all fried together. It displays two pieces of fish, a mound of crinkle fries, a single lemon wedge, a fork and knife, and a soda emerging from the top of a hinged steel wire fry basket.
