Reply to this post by confirming your participation.
b. E-mail me your ring size and address (either through Flickr, or Crafthaus or by using this e-mail: info@createjewelry.gr).
c. Then you have to make the ring at your convenience and send it to this person….just make sure it's before christmas!!!
Seeing all these rings makes me wonder why I have always loved rings. Rings are personal--imbued with sentiment, emotion and memory. I am not as attached to my earrings or bracelets. Necklaces come close, but rings are my weakness. I don't wear many rings, but the three I wear are very special. Two I have made and are the only pieces that I keep for myself and the other is my wedding band commissioned from a local jeweler.

Shapes draw me in and tell me a story of emotion, beauty and order. Sometimes I have a difficult time speaking about my work. Visual language is not always easily translated into verbal language. Shapes reference memories that are deep and submerged.

PUNCH is an artist run gallery in the heart of the gallery district in
downtown Seattle. Visiting the gallery helped me see the space to
prepare for the show. Artist members were busy setting up the show for
the September gallery opening and I was able to ask Howard Barlow some questions.

The featured artist for September is Patricia Hagen with a solo show entitled, "Spill". This exhibition featured oil paintings and watercolors by Patricia
Hagen. In these works, Hagen continues her investigation into the
representation of inter-dependant organic systems.
Punch Gallery writes that: "PUNCH
was founded in March 2006 by a group of artists
eager to participate in the dynamic cultural exchange
resulting from the emergence of other artist-run galleries
in Seattle. P seeks to
exhibit work that is honest, thoughtful, vocal,
fearless, and fresh. Applauding individual
expression, the gallery’s primary mission is to
provide support and encouragement for artists to
create and exhibit their work in an atmosphere free from
the constraints of commercialism. Committed to excellence on
every level, PUNCH
worthwhile contribution to Seattle’s cultural
growth."

We feel very lucky to be able to show in this space in the heart of Seattle's vibrant downtown. Thanks to Punch Gallery and to SNAG for giving the Ring a Day Project an opportunity to have this show.

We have five curators and will need to have all rings selected to meet the SNAG deadline of November 15th. It will be a lot of work in a short amount of time, but we will get it done.

Our first prototype of our display pedestals is being built. One of our curators' husband is a professional welder who offered his services to build our pedestals. I'm looking forward to see what the standard white pedestal will look like out of metal. The lighting in the gallery is adequate but probably not enough for jewelry, so we really wanted to build the cases 42" tall so that the rings would be closer to the viewer's face. PUNCH will allow us to add more cans to the track lighting if we feel that we need it.

We have researched glass cases and have found some standard cases that meet our budget and security needs. They are the modular tempered glass cases that have hinged doors with a locking mechanism.

Last but not least--Evelyn Markasky was the winner in our "Ring a Day Blog" Giveaway. She won a "500 Wedding Rings" book graciously donated by Lark books. Congratulations Evelyn!

Ring A Day Applicationtag:crafthaus.ning.com,2010-10-15:2104389:Topic:1457752010-10-15T15:03:22.675ZSara Westermarkhttps://crafthaus.ning.com/profile/SaraWestermark
