Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
My next post isn't SNAG related or even jewelry and metals related. However, it's too important to me not to share. I'm betting most of you will feel the same.
In the wake of the tragic shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub a week and a half ago, while I was searching for a reason NOT to curl up in a ball under the bed, my friend and co-worker sprang into action. Ceramic artist Chuck Purviance (BFA, Edinboro University of PA) has launched a major fundraising event to benefit the victims and their families. Potters for Pulse is uniting ceramic artists and potters from all across the globe. Over 50 individuals are donating work, in some cases multiple pieces to be sold via Big Cartel. ALL of the proceeds from the sale will be given to the Support Victims of Pulse Shooting Go Fund Me campaign.
The sale will go live at 6pm EST, on this Friday, June 24 and feature between 50 and 100 pieces at a variety of price points. There will likely be a secondary sale of T-shirts with the Potters for Pulse logo. We're still hammering out the details.
For more information on this event and the artists who are participating, join the Facebook event here.

It has been so incredible to see the clay community come together in the aftermath of this tragedy. For the first time in my life, I wish I was a potter so that I could do more to help with this event. In light of all these amazing, talented and caring artists, I'm pledging to donate 25% of all my Etsy sales from now until July 1 to the Pulse Victims Go Fund Me efforts. If you'd like to do something similar, or are involved with other Pulse fundraising efforts, please let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading. Be kind to one another.
