Art Jewelry Forum has begun a discussion about the state of criticality within the contemporary jewelry community via. this article by the editor, Benjamin Lignel, "What is a Good Review?"

As Benjamin states in the article "the reaction from the community to our critical reviews has been mixed; while most people agree in theory that criticality is a good thing, it becomes a little less obvious when theory turns into practice."

Constructive criticism can be an enormously helpful learning tool, or at the very least a strength building test of the devotion and clarity of one's vision. Outside of the academic world, there seems to be little critical discourse concerning contemporary jewelry, metalsmithing, or craft in general. What do you think of the level of criticism within our field? What is the importance of constructive critical feedback?
