This past weekend I hosted a UJ Design Studios Sale at our apartment studio in Istanbul.  Since more and more of Istanbul is being redeveloped into apartment buildings, it’s not uncommon for first floor apartments to also be offices for architects and similar businesses.  It was really fun to have so many people come visit and shop.

People are really excited about the new ÇATOM designs and bought a variety of the pieces. The work is very reasonably priced and very playful. The people that bought pieces are also happy that they are supporting a great cause and have the chance to share information about the ÇATOM with other people that might ask about the jewelry. I got lots of great responses to the new ÇATOM work and we are excited to have more new work in time for the new Studio Sale.

When James is back in Istanbul in December, we will be having another Studio Sale. We will have lots of new designs of UJ Design Studios to debut along with new work made by the ÇATOM. At every Studio Sale that we have, lots of new people come and we have the opportunity to share our work with the ÇATOM with them. We might even have the work of other Istanbul artists at this Studio Sale too.

Right now, James is working on sending out the annual holiday card featuring Shahmaran, along with a die-pressed copper ornament. Please send us your mailing address if you’re interested in receiving one. The card will include information about the story of Shahmaran and direct people to www.TurkCraft.org, where we will have updated information about our progress with the ÇATOM project. We are also working on digitizing Shahmaran to be used in laser cutting and etching projects.
