The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

  • Crafts Council has been working in partnership with CHEAD to explore how we can best support craft-based Higher Education courses and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first step in this process is gathering some information about how your institutions are tackling the lockdown. We’d be really grateful if you could complete this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/K8SR6GX. You may also receive this survey from CHEAD; apologies for cross-posting, we’re just keen not to miss anyone out!

We know there are lots of surveys out there at the moment but would really appreciate if you could take a couple of minutes to complete and share our surveys focusing on the impact of Covid-19, Markets supporting craft - the COVID-19 effect 2020 https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MarketImpactCovid and Craft HEI COVID-19 Impact Survey https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/K8SR6GX
More information on these surveys below and few further updates both organisational and maker opportunities.

Over the past few weeks Andrew and his wife Louise have been regularly livestreaming a Q&A hour on YouTube. This has been a huge success with well over 250 viewers watching as well as participating with questions in the chat box. If you haven't managed to watch one yet, the latest is HERE https://www.atthebench.com/at-the-bench-live/

following to the current coronavirus situation spreading around the world, the organizing committee of the “Gioielli in Fermento” competition has taken the important decision to re-open the call for entries and to postpone its deadline for presentation to January 2021.

Consequentially this action will generate a double edition in the next Spring!
