Thorns, on Good Friday reminds me of the pain the pain on the cross. Its hard for me to want to imagine the kind of pain of this torturous death. Its uncomfortable, its inconvenient, its depressing. Most hero stories are victorious, strong, and courageous. Yet here we are watching this man submit to this cruelty and never once speaking up to try to save himself. It is this humility and sacrifice that draws me into the story. He becomes believable, he becomes authentic. His sacrifice becomes a story of love--a forever kind of love.
