3D printed Sound Rings: Michiel Cornelissen

KXX - 3d printed sound rings from Michiel Cornelissen on Vimeo.

Shake to activate: KXX Sound Rings by Michiel Cornelissen are 3D printed with beads inside their hollow forms that rattle. Inspired by the traditional Afro-Brazilian caxixi shaken percussion instrument.

Source: Via MOCO Submit.

The rings come in various sizes and colors. No assembly required. KXX/caxixi is pronounced kah-shi-shi in Brazilian Portuguese. The caxixi instrument is a closed basket with a flat bottom, usually made from dried gourd, and seeds or other small objects inside.

Michiel Cornelissen's studio is located in Utrecht, The Netherlands. He studied at the Delft University of Technology. He designs for Phillips and his jewelry can be found at MOMA and The Tate Modern in London, UK.
