Alchemist Picnic III: A Mid-Atlantic Metals Retreat May 6-8, 2016

The Alchemist Picnic is an annual gathering of metalsmiths and jewelers from the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. This weekend event is hosted by Wayne Werner, renowned for his metalsmithing expertise, jewelry design, musical talent, and ebullient personality. He is the perfect emcee for this lively event and Touchstone is the ideal setting with its beautiful woodland campus and well-equipped metals studios. As Pennsylvania’s only residential craft school, Touchstone’s convenient geography makes it the ideal mid-Atlantic platform for the Alchemist Picnic to take flight. This year's symposium is being held in conjunction with the Eighth Annual Jim Campbell Hammer-In, offering attendees a wide variety of metals related demonstrations.

Aspiring students, emerging makers, and seasoned professionals are all invited to share their creative and professional journeys. Alchemist Picnic offers a rare opportunity to network for your guild, school, and/or organization, as well as share your own talents and aspirations with a regional community of metals artists. Alchemist Picnic is a weekend rendezvous designed to build community, share information, swap goods, exchange services, and absorb ideas. Heidi Lowe, April Wood, and Andrew Haviland will present. The crossover presenter for Alchemist Picnic and the Jim Campbell Hammer-In is the talented Paige Davis. Guild and personal presentations will take place with a Saturday evening roundtable discussion led by Wayne Werner on professional practices.

Note: Demonstrations will be held in the great room of Blaney Lodge and in the Hart Moore Blacksmithing Studio. All meals will be served at Touchstone's Dining Hall. Specific demonstrator time slots will be announced soon.
