Woke up and left for the first meeting of the semester, it wasn't mandatory but sometimes things are about showing up and making an appearance-even if no one cares to share that tidbit. I have meeting on Thursday and Friday all day and then holiday on Monday and the start of the semester. Talk of budgets and cuts and how to enterprise on OPM- Other People's Money- to ensure the funds for research and travel grants left me with a more solid foundation on the workings of the University system. As I see it: Money is great, it is not so good when we have to account for where it is going and decrease our spending, if you can find someone else to pay for it-awesome. My favorite cut back in spending is the revelation ~certain~ departments have had that the easiest way to cut the budget is to cut the hours of the person paid the most. I wonder who this could have happened to? I find myself contemplating the possibility of adding yet another form of income to my schedule. I already had to take a lone for the first time in my education, I made it through my entire undergrad with no loans, to compensate for the decrease in income associated with my new position and the reduced hours from the first. This would become a third job. After thinking about money, money, money till noon I had lunch with classmates and co-workers and talked about life and art at a little Taquería. Went home to clean and unpack while watching Hoarders to make myself throw stuff away and be organized. Shudder. Hmmm I just got the first gas bill for the house and further inquiry is needed to see if it's actually high...
