Need recommendation on polymer clay finishing/polishing techniques

I've been using an arylic varnish to bring the shine to my polymer clay creations but I'm finding that over time, they tend to either get sticky or they start peeling. Should I not use this method or is there a recommendation someone can give me on what they have found works best? Should I just polish and if so, how do you do that with polymer clay that has intricate detail without jeopardizing the detail? Thx so much.
