Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
Real to Reel: The Craft Film Festival, is the first UK festival dedicated to craft and moving image, hosted by the Crafts Council and Crafts magazine. Real to Reel gives a platform to the wealth of films that explore themes of making, makers, materials and process in the broadest sense. It takes place on the evenings of 4 and 5 May at Picturehouse Central, London.
We are eager to show the breadth and depth of talent and technique that exists across the UK’s craft and moving image communities, and are inviting submissions for the festival’s first edition, based around the theme of our ‘Material World’.
Your film can be of any genre; including documentary, narrative or animation, and it can be traditional or experimental. Essentially we are interested in film-making that has a craft story to tell, but for this first edition of the festival, it should focus on material and its manipulation in some way - either as subject matter or as intrinsic part of the filming process.
Deadline: 11th March 2016
Submitted films will be selected by the Crafts Council with the support of experts across the film industry and craft sector. A selection will be screened during the film festival and published online.
To submit a film - create a Crafts Council website account and do so via your dashboard (accessible via your top menu bar). We look forward to watching your creations!
If you have any questions about your submission please contact Sarah on s_turner@craftscouncil.org.uk
