sorry for taking so long to write back. i started getting sick on friday and just was too worn out at night to do email. i actually am still feeling lousy but i have so much email to do. i introduced myself to lisa. she is lovely, just like you said. altho i did poorly at the show, i didn't leave my booth much cos we're always afraid we'll miss that "one great sale." i don't know how lisa did, but many jewelers weren't happy. i asked those that i know and i may have found one who was reasonably happy.
i volunteered for the gallery crawl right outside facere. i wanted to be sure to get to see it so this was my insurance!! there is so much happening i don't know how i'll decide. those coordinators--i don't know how they do it. they must not have to work at all because this seems like a full time job for a very long time.
i'm excited to go to snag but at the same time scared, as i have to leave for my biggest and most important show 2 days after i get home. the timing was very bad for me this year. but i think i say the same thing every year!
not sure what you meant by "Clayton was tough, really, keep trying. we can talk more about that later." did you get accepted/rejected from the show?
anyway, going to make a cup of tea now. maybe it will help the sinuses!!
spent the whole day at city museum. forgot about the gardens till i got back. darn. but my daughter would most likely have protested after spending yesterday at the botanical gardens. setting up for laumeier tomorrow and starting the show at 6pm. i guess i didn't do a good job of fitting in a call/visit. i keep trying to get into the clayton show in sept. i know i'll do it some day. laumeier is a little easier to get accepted. if you can fit in a visit to the show, i'll be there!! thx peg. anne
i think you live in StL. i'm actually here right now. headed to the botanical gardens and climatron tomorrow, city museum thurs, and then setting up for laumeier on fri and then doing the show for the whole weekend. then hurrying back to vt. have to get a lot of work made b4 heading to snag conf end of month. will you be there? i'm running for treasurer!! i'm excited about it. when i return i leave in 2 days for the road so i'll have to have virtually everything done b4 returning.
Lisa is very cool. I have asked Brigitte about an exhibition on Crafthaus for jewellery featuring iron, preferably recycled iron. If it is on, I would love to have some input on the curating from you both.
Jamaica! awesome! Thanks, your work is awesome as always! Would love to see ya! What have you been up to? How is the program going at Fontbonne? And are you still teaching at Craft Alliance? I'm getting ready to go to school in North Carolina and if i remember correctly that is your neck of the woods, got any words of wisdom?
I do love the Craft Alliance and have spoken to Robert Longyear about doing a workshop or something there. Hopefully that will work out eventually. I've been teaching for the past few years and am sad not to be doing it this fall, but maybe I can use the break to get more work done! :-)
Well, thank you again for your time and I look forward to meeting you around town!
I've seen your jewelry at the Craft Alliance in St. Louis and always really enjoyed it. My husband and I are both metalsmiths and graduates of and instructors at Kent State University's MFA program. We're about to move back to the St. Louis area to be closer to my family and I'm wondering if you have any advice for metalsmiths new to the area. I've already planned to join the Midwest Metalsmiths, but if you have any other tips, they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time and hopefully I will have the opportunity to meet you sometime!
Hi Peg, we've met but it's been a while. I know Jan and Robert. Actually, you have a student now that is a friend of mine, Cat Adams (Red Dawn). We play roller derby together! I like color contrast in your work a lot.
Welcome to crafthaus ! I am very glad you joined us.
Please add a few images of your work and your thoughts to the blog/discussion topics that are already posted. Of course, if there is something else you'd much rather talk about, please add that to the site so that the rest of us can chime in.
I really hope you will enjoy being with this network and find the exchanges interesting and fun. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it, for sure.
If there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me anytime. I will do my best to be of help.
Again: Welcome !
