Something I missed at this last conference was being able to see individual jewelers talking about their work. I would like to see a lot more of this. Even if the presentations were a bit shorter. I just feel like I want to see more jewelry and hear the artist talk about the work. I don't want a lot of presentations by people outside of our field. I also believe it very important that the presenters are easy to understand and have a visually stimulating presentation.
i would like to hear more on CAD/3D printing and opinions/discussions on how it is currently effecting and how it might affect the way hand made objects are viewed and perceived currently and in the future. Maybe a panel discussion with makers who are pro-CAD in this field vs. makers who are anti-CAD in this field would be useful/informative.
Bridgette, Did the Houston conference organizers ask you to post this inquiry? Just wanted to ask because the topics for the Conference are usually selected very early, often more than a year in advance and are solely within the jurisdiction of the local conference planners.

If the members of Crafthaus have ideas about what you would like to hear for the Professional Development Seminar, please make your suggestions within the next few weeks. Don Friedlich, Andy Cooperman and Harriete Estel Berman are discussing the PDS program choices which need to be finalized soon.

Hello Harriete:

Noone asked me to do this, this was my own brilliant idea to get some thoughts from fellow crafthausers channelled for future conferences.

I am in touch with Sandie Zilker regarding the Houston conference, and have already told her about the various discussions/ideas here. If she cannot implement them because of time constraints, then maybe the following conference can. So far on the blogs and on crafthaus we are discussing what went on during the last PDS and conference and that is really informative, just wanted to offer a spot for ideas and suggestions for future conferences, that's all.

I knew YOU would be vigilant :-) and will be watching this for the PDS, hope it is helpful for your purposes.

Brigitte
I will keep listening.
