The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Here is a short selection of makers working with paper in several areas. Just click on the photos to see more about them. Of course there are many others which you can discover by following the link below our selection.:

Fashion & Accessories: Bags, Dresses, fashion items and many more creative objects can be realized with just paper!

Réjane Van Enst produces necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, and rings using natural papers. "I prefer natural papers (rice paper, banana fiber, pineapple, Nepalese paper or Burmese) that offer me an infinite palette. However..."

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/oldest-prosthetic-world-3000-year-old-wood...

Archaeologists are investigating a remarkable carved wooden toe dating back to the 1st millennium BCE. It is the oldest known prosthetic device discovered in the world so far.

The fake big toe is long, shapely and delicately carved with the detail of a toenail. The maker was highly skilled, as the toe was designed to be comfortable and mobile, attached around the ball of the foot with a strong strap.
