The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

In the 3 years since its inception, the British Craft Pavilion became the go-to exhibition for high-end craft during the London Design Festival; 2019 sees the pavilion open its doors to global makers, becoming the International Craft Pavilion.

The focus will be on functional and contemporary craft from around the world, and from across the full spectrum of craft disciplines, inviting both individual makers and organisations such as international crafts councils to represent their nations craft at the International Craft Pavilion.

As a response to a call for a more global representation of the crafts, the International Craft Pavilion will become a key destination for the Fair's 29,000 visitors from 77 countries, alongside the London Design Festival's audience of collectors, retailers and industry experts.

Madebyhandonline: Rachel Butlin seeks to challenge the concepts of contemporary interactive and wearable jewellery producing a range of high end, mixed material wearable pieces. She loves to challenge the way in which people perceive a piece, by creating small scale sculpture that can be worn on the body, in a way chosen by the wearer. Carefully considering material combination and placement, her work often explores bespoke materials, evoking curiosity between the piece and the wearer themselves. https://madebyhandonline.com/collections/rachel-butlin

Creative Links: The Future of Men's Jewellery - Thu 14 March 2019, 6pm - 8pm, £10 (incl a welcome drink)
Men’s jewellery is one of the most exciting facets of the business right now, as male shoppers become braver in their choices and the boundaries between genders become fluid. Join Rachel Taylor, of The Jewellery Cut, and guest speakers including Fiona Deffenbaugh, owner and designer at Black Peral London, designer-maker Castro Smith and Darrell Granton, Head of Wholesale for UK & Ireland at Thomas Sabo for an evening’s discussion on the growing interest in male adornment and what it means for jewellery.
