The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Early Bird Registration Opens Next Week!
SNAG's 2020 Conference will mark another historic milestone: the 50th anniversary of SNAG’s first conference. Since the original group of smiths came together at the organization’s first conference in 1970, the impact continues to resonate in the organization as SNAG endeavors to positively influence and enhance the livelihood of its large membership. While the 2019 Conference in Chicago celebrated SNAG’s 50th birthday and reflected on the last fifty years, in 2020 we will turn our focus to the future.

Early Bird Registration opens January 23rd--one week away!

Save up to $175 by registering before March 12th for the lowest rates available (see below for rates and dates).

Maker Networking Lunches
We've also booked in all the dates for our 2020 Maker Networking Lunches. These free maker networking sessions take place at Making Space on Tuesdays from 11am until 1pm and are an opportunity for local makers to get together, enjoy a shared lunch and enjoy a talk / presentation or session with a professional maker or industry professional.
We are still finalising who's delivering all the sessions but we will send out another newsletter next month confirming the first 2 sessions at least. For now, pencil the dates in your diary and as with Maker Mondays, the sessions are free to attend but we do ask that you book a free ticket. You can do that by clicking here. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/making-space-4695509083?utm_source=h...

FOCUS ON LETTERING - Sunday 23rd February 2020

Following on from the success of our first Focus on Lettering Course last Autumn we are delighted to be able to offer another opportunity for experienced engravers to learn lettering techniques.

Led by Sarah Hobbs of JJ Bergin, the course will cover mainly two styles, a form of roman and script. The first is very blockish then the other a more cursive style as a contrast. Students who have a natural inclination to be able to draw will find it invaluable. Also we will show how the engraving can be repeated over and over from a master sample.

Early Bird Registration Opens Soon!
In 2020, SNAG will hold it’s 49th annual conference in the City of Brotherly Love!

Join us for the 2020 SNAG Conference in Philadelphia! The City of Brotherly Love is a supportive hub made up of creatives and entrepreneurs inhabiting studio buildings throughout the City – the streets are small, but they pack in deep.

The theme of SNAG’s 2020 conference symbolizes its host city of Philadelphia and the fields of metalsmithing and jewelry, both of which are constantly evolving with the times; constantly reinventing themselves.

From Grit to Gold: Future Fifty represents the breadth of us coming together after a huge historical evolution (that was not always pretty) and building the future together.
Early Bird Registration opens January 23rd!
