I appreciate that you have created the criteria for online exhibitions.
Recently, I entered my work in an exhibition; the entry fee was $35.
The two delicate sculptures which were accepted, had to be specially wrapped, double boxed, then shipped via UPS, which cost $100. They will undoubtedly be sent back to me. Hopefully, the gallery will re wrap them in the original supplied bubble wrap and boxes. Even then, it will be another $45.
In order to pay a 50% commission to the gallery, should the work actually sell, I doubled the price.
As these expenses rise, it gets to be a more and more difficult decision to enter exhibitions.
The good news was Portrait of the Artist as Marie Antoinette won Award of Distinction and $250. That will just about cover the packing and shipping to and from.
Don't get me wrong. I am very pleased and grateful to have won, but as the costs rise, entering becomes a consideration.
The b/w exhibition is still in the running, I received many entries. However, a lot of crafthausers also have had great ideas for exhibitions and their exhibitions have priority. Currently, the member curated monthly online exhibitions are scheduled through the Summer of 2013! It's a full schedule.
If you still want to send in images for consideration, pls do. [crafthauseditor at live dot com]
