I am interested in jewelry as a form of non-verbal communication. I work with discarded tin cans and select a particular image, color or text to become the focal point. These vignettes hint at a story. A memento mori inspired piece reminds the wearer of her own mortality, while a portrait brooch honors a loved one.

My jewelry is meant to be worn, but may be a component of a sculptural object created both to contain and display.

Join me this summer in the classroom! I will be teaching at two of my favorite places, Arrowmont school of Arts and Crafts and Penland school of Crafts

Penland School of Crafts - July 25-August 10. "Designing with Color and Narrative" http://penland.org/classes/summer/summer_main.html

Arrowmont - June 13 -19. "Jewelry Enshrined"

Welcome to crafthaus, the network for artists, craftsmen/women ! I am very glad you joined us !

Please add your thoughts to the blogs and discussion forums that are already posted. Of course, if there is something else you'd much rather talk about, please add that to the site so that the rest of us can chime in.

I really hope you will enjoy being with this network and find the exchanges interesting and fun. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it, for sure.

Please note that crafthaus is a fully member-financed website, meaning that a small annual fee is involved in being a member . You will find all the necessary information on how to go about this in the FAQs section of the site. Your membership fee is due on or before August 15, 2009 and is payable through paypal (preferred,) US check or credit card.

Finally, if there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me via crafthauseditor@live.com anytime. I will do my best to be of help.

    Again: Welcome and enjoy !

It was awesome to see you this weekend as well! I would love to hang out in VA when you get a chance. Also, this is premature but I have talked to the Courthouse Galleries Art Museum in Portsmouth VA(they are an affiliate with the Children's Museum where I work), and they are interesting in doing a contemporary metals exhibition which I would be in charge of (maybe in 2011 or 12), and I was wondering if you would like to have a piece or two in it????
