As literature further transitions from hard object to digital space, many artists are turning to methods of altering old books and crafting new books as a mode of creative expression. The workshop will focus onnon-traditional structure and alternative techniques and materials. Students will go beyond the usual to build intriguing sculptural, three-dimensional art forms while experimenting with unusual and found objects, mixed media, manipulated fabrics and stiffeners, digital image transfers, and more to create a conceptual"book" that has depth, texture and visual interest. Don't forget to bring a bag lunch!
