Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

Reverberation: The Art of Bashing Metal Then and NowBilston Craft Gallery
17 Sep 11 - 26 Nov 11
Reverberation highlights the region's metal-bashing industries, and explores current British innovation and making in metal.
This exhibition presents exciting contemporary metalwork including a brand new commissioned piece by regional metal-smith Rajesh Gogna. This work will be shown alongside an extraordinary array of the rich and varied metalwares designed and produced in Bilston and nearby in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Reverberation is part of the regional festival Home of Metal, which is a celebration of the music that was born in the Black Country and Birmingham. Home of Metal brings people together to share their passion and explore themes of Heavy Metal through exhibitions, film screenings, live event, a conference and faily friendly activities.
Home of Metal is a project created and produced by Capsule; for detailed event information click here. http://www.wolverhamptonart.org.uk/bilston/exhibitions/004693.htm
27 Aug 11 - 24 Sep 11
On Yer Mettle! is a fascinating exhibition of work by members of the Bilston Craft Gallery Textile Group. The group has been inspired by the regional 'Home of Metal' festival and have created works around the theme of metal in the Midlands.
Using a range of techniques including embroidery, darning, quilting, digital printing and dyeing with rust, each member has interpreted the theme in their own unique way.

New bursary for young Artists
IdeasTap, the online arts and funding organisation, in conjunction with Sky Arts has launched a new bursary for young artists. The Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund will offer five young artists £30,000 each to fund their work for a year. The fund is open to artists aged 18-30 living in the UK and Ireland, and is designed to bridge the gap between formal education and becoming a working artist.
The Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund is open to individual artists working in visual art, theatre, performance art, film, music, dance or literature. The scheme will also provide each artist with a mentor from Sky, who will help develop their skills and knowledge in the arts and commercial sector. The artists will also have the opportunity to showcase their work on Sky Arts – be it on TV, online or on demand.
Deadline for applications: Monday 19 September 2011
Two winners will be selected during this round of funding. The next round will open in early 2012 from which three further winners will be chosen.
