The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

REVELATIONS THE INTERNATIONAL FINE CRAFT AND CREATION EVENT

Revelations casts a new gaze on creation. The biennial places the creator at the heart of the event and invites the world’s fine craft and contemporary creation to engage in dialogue.

The European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD) were created in 2002 upon the request of the French government to derive value from the nation’s enormous intangible assets as a way to highlight its living heritage. They are organised by the National Institute of Arts and Crafts (INMA) in France. Due to the success of these days in France, they now take place across Europe throughout the month of April: https://madineurope.eu/en/european-artistic-crafts-days/

Miriam Hanid and Yusuke Yamamoto demonstrate their exceptional skills to the public in the prestigious surroundings of The Clothworkers’ Company, giving visitors a rare opportunity to see inside one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the City of London while providing a unique opportunity to talk to the makers about their design process, techniques and commissioning silver. There are four demonstrations (repeated throughout the day) and a lunchtime panel discussion led by Angela Cork, Chair of Contemporary British Silversmiths, with the two makers and Senior Archivist Jessica Collins at The Clothworkers’ Company. Pre-booking is required.
