The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

The Royal College of Art is the UK’s only entirely postgraduate art and design university. In 2018/19 the College will have some 2,300 students registered for MA, MRes, MPhil and PhD degrees and over 450 permanent academic, technical and administrative staff, with more than 1,000 visiting lecturers and professors.

The Graduate Diploma art and design prepares students for Master’s study in art and design. The programme focuses on developing proficiency in the discursive languages and independent learning methods and practices of art and design, and on introducing students to the role and influence of art and design in the world today.

The College is recruiting two Tutors to work three days per week, to support and respond to the work of Graduate Diploma, MA, MRes, MPhil and PhD students. The successful candidates will be expected to teach from their own research by delivering lectures, workshops, seminars and crits across the pathways of the Graduate Diploma and other programmes in the College. They will be expected to contribute to discussions about the development of the curriculum and be prepared to pioneer new ways of teaching. Their research will be expected to operate at a high level, consistently producing research outputs of at least 3* REF quality to enable submission to the REF.
