The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Adaptable, flexible and creative individuals based in, or prepared to move to, Birmingham or the West Midlands with active creative or critical practices. Eastside projects is an artist-led public gallery which commissions and presents experimental contemporary art practices and exhibitions. The role of Gallery Assistant requires contribution to all aspects of Eastside Projects’ work and may include invigilation, interacting with visitors, exhibition production and installation, gallery maintenance and events management and delivery.

14th Sala El Brocense Visual Arts Competition

Criteria: All artforms: the Provincial Council of Cáceres, through the Institución Cultural "El Brocense", announces the call for the 14th "Sala El Brocense" Visual Arts Competition. The event is open to artists of any nationality who may use any theme, technique, and support of their choosing for completing the works. The winner(s) will receive a maximum amount of E15,000.

Each proposal may include no more than two works never before awarded at any other event and must be accompanied by the following information: the artists full name and CV under one page long and preferably in digital format, one information label for each work, and 13 x 18 cm printed photographs of the work(s), plus a digital copy. Black Swan Arts’ Biennial Open Art Competition & Exhibition

Criteria: Black Swan Arts are inviting submissions for the 2012 Biennial Open Arts Competition. In 2009, over 500 entries from across the South West were submitted, entries are shortlisted by a panel of judges. Shortlisted entries will be displayed in the main gallery from 10th Feb - 31st Mar 2012.

The Norfolk and Norwich Commission

Criteria: The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals are looking for artists to create a commissioned sculpture based on the theme Wish/Prayer Tree. Artists will be required to work in metal and mixed media. The fee for this work will be around £20,000.

Pop up Precious – an exhibition of new jewellery by local designers – will show at the Framed Gallery on Gayfield Square later this month.

Eleven artists will display their work, all of them members of the recently formed Edinburgh branch of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery.
