Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
The work I create exhibits a wide variety of construction including traditional metalsmithing and jewelry design techniques, ceramic disciplines, and experimental glass working. Each body of work I create consists of individual pieces that define the central idea or theme of “place” as a social position, state of mind, identity, or geographical location.
Most recently, I have used a combination of disciplines to present my current environment (“place”) centered on a South Florida theme. Photographs of local scenery, wildlife, and landscape have been used as a resource to explore and capture South Florida. These photos serve as a direct observation and introductory bridge to my series of jewelry titled “Infused in the Elements.” This theme is expressed by infusion of metal, glass, porcelain, and precious gemstones specifically designed to convey the strong, dangerous, yet delicate nature of living in my new place of South Florida.
