This reproduction of an original 16th century Italian buckler (first two photos) was produced as an auction item and features a 16 ga. mild steel body. The buckler is noted for its unusual ring guard surrounding the shallow central boss, likely designed to trap and bind an opponent’s blade. The finished buckler weighs in at a featherweight 14 oz.
