Neckpiece
Copper, Brass, Nickel, Leather, Faux Bone, Moonstone
The first calendar known to mankind was created by the Mayans and Aztecs. If one has ever researched the legend, they would discover the calendar resets around December 21st, 2012. The winter solstice, exactly where the nickel rivet lies on the piece. Rumor has it, that a transformation of consciousness will occur through some sort of catastrophic event. Since the calendar came from the ancient tribe's study of the galaxy, I selected moonstone to represent the all seeing eye that stands between man and the spirit realm. The rings not only function as the chain of the piece, but also serve as a sort of reminder. A reminder that the source of all things is believed to have a circumference that is nowhere and whose center is everywhere. This was meant to represent the idea of the cosmos as an unbroken circle.
