It is believed that human beings have evolved past needing bodily defenses like claws, a hard outer shell or a tail. However I believe our civilized means of protection like clothing and body language are not enough and often feel my body is vulnerable and would prefer to be made more like other animals. This piece deals with the struggle I feel existing as both an animal and a human. Here a spinal like tail runs down my back and spikes of hair jut out from bone like forms to protect my face from 'predators'.

It's made of brass wire (through the center of the part going roung my neck. Covered in cream wax, very soft, pliable stuff. I moulded each link, which I think looks like little alien creatures with tails. I then coated them speratly in clear flexible resin called Acudome. I then snap them together, so the whole tail/spine is articulated. So creepy and a little sexy! :)
