Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
This "Billie" name tag was custom made for Billie Jean Thiede as a token of my appreciation for speaking at the 2014 SNAG Professional Development Seminar. Billie had great stage presence and authority as she addressed the audience about her vision as "The Artist As Collector."
Though Billie is the Chair of the Studio Arts Division at Champaign Illinois University and a Professor in Metal, she spoke to the audience about how she started collecting.
Most importantly, she collects her fellow artists’ work in order to document and support our field.
When artists'admire a person’s work, (and instead of copying the artist’s style, or making something similar for themselves) they can adopt a role as patron of the arts with a commitment to purchase another maker’s work.
Instead of wearing a paper name tag, or another piece of trash, have you ever considered making your own name tag pin in your signature style?
