is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Dear Friends,
I am very honored to announce two new programs currently operating at the ILJMuseum. The Hephaistos Summer School and the Jewelry Artist in Residenceprogram, JaIR, open this summer for the first time in a Museum.
The Hephaistos Summer School, www.jss.gr , is a pioneering two-week long accredited program on the History of Western Jewelry. The Hephaistos summer school commences this June and is the first of its kind to run in a museum. The participants will learn about the history of western jewelry from classical archaeology to contemporary artistic jewelry and technologies of jewelry making. The program is run by esteemed Greek and international academics. It is accredited by the Hellenic American University, http://hauniv.edu/.
The ILJM, also inaugurates the first Jewelry Artist in Residence program in a museum, worldwide. The newly established JaIR, opens to national and international applicants from May 1st . This Museum Residency applies to individuals that wish to engage in cultivating their art or science and engage in public activities with visitors and other artists. The Residents will be based in the new Metalsmithing Studio - ZEM and the Jewelry Crafts Studio - ZEDET located on the Museum premises.

AJF has created a digital library to provide online access to jewelry scholarship that would otherwise be difficult to find. We believe essays, dissertations, and other writing about art jewelry deserve to be readily accessible, researchable, and savored. This digital platform will serve AJF's international member community--including students, collectors, curators, and scholars.
As someone with an interest in art jewelry, you are invited to submit YOUR art jewelry-related texts.
As a critical thought generator about jewelry, we are excited to invite you to contribute and share your digital media with an audience engaged and interested in exploring the world of art jewelry.
AJF is a nonprofit that advocates for the field through education, discourse, appreciation, and support. Access to exhibition catalogs is a key component of a building a respected collection of jewelry by establishing provenance and making sure they are accessible is important to the field.
Thank you for your attention, and, I hope, your participation in this exciting new endeavor. It will launch at the end of April 2018. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
All my best,
Rebekah Frank
