LOTS going on. I've fallen behind here!
I had NO idea that sometimes
ALL irons one has in the proverbial fire
would catch all at once!
SO...5 inside rings of different sizes were cut and soldered.
I measured for the outer rings the same way,
around the outside, adding to that,
one and a half the thickness of the metal I will use.
I eyeballed it, since I don't that exact a ruler.
I don't think I'll miss by much,
so adjusting one or the other to make a tight fit shouldn't be a problem.

I traced the original drawings onto the cut strips,
using my crayon as the carbon,
since I left what I wanted to use at home. Pencil lead just didn't work.
I think I like the crayon better.
I redrew all with a Sharpie so it wouldn't rub off too easily.

In case you don't already know, if you draw the patterns on paper and put them through a laser photocopier then take the copy and lay it face down on the slightly matted metal, you can dab the back with a cloth dipped in a small quantity of acetone and the pattern will transfer. When it dries, it won't rub off with your fingers. If you did know that, ignore this!

Love the aesthetic here. One of my students made these which I just think are brilliant:

Rocket Pack Cufflinks 2

Yes! But, I was on a roll and the crayon was faster and I could see through the tracing paper!
But, yes, thanks for the reminder...
I'd forgotten this until your words,
and my original words back at you are under those fine rockets!
