My last post about my trip to China focuses on the events that took place after the exhibition and conference concluded.  With Design Week just underway, I headed out in the morning with Ruudt Peters (in the above image, pointing) and Jamie Bennett.  Our destination was Dashilar, a well known “Hutong” or village in the heart of Beijing, and one of the main areas for Design Week events and exhibitions.  After locating the narrow passage that lead into Dashilar, the first stop was at Ubi Gallery. Jess Riva Cooper - The Story of the Golem

In my art practice, I integrate color, drawing and clay to create installation-based artwork. I study the foundation myths of the Golem and Dybbuk spirits in Yiddish folklore and reinterpret these traditional stories through a female lens. The International Sculpture Center is now inviting entries for a Call for Panels for the 24th International Sculpture Conference: Sculpture, Culture, and Community in New Orleans, LA from October 1-4, 2014. The International Sculpture Center is seeking compelling panel proposals relating to Artistic Vision & Community Engagement, Art's Role in Cultural Revitalization, Contemporary Sculptural Practices, and other topics relevant to the working artist. Submissions must be 200 words and include a clear but brief statement of the panel objective, for those interested in serving as panel moderators during conference programming.
