NCECA 2010, 44th ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Theme: INDEPENDENCE
March 31-April 3, 2010 • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania Convention Center • 1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107
NCECA 2010: INDEPENDENCE, celebrates the individual and the choices they make. An independent spirit is necessary to tear down existing walls, to explore new ideas and to create work that pushes conventional understanding of one medium. An independent spirit is also necessary to maintain tradition, to be bound loosely by historical precedent and function. NCECA 2010 celebrates the independent spirits of traditionalists and groundbreakers.
The city of Philadelphia will host, for the third time, the NCECA annual conference. The 44th conference will take place from March 31 - April 3, 2010. Sited in Center City Philadelphia, the Convention Center and conference hotels are perfectly located to take advantage of the city’s vibrant urban nightlife, close to restaurants, shopping, bars and clubs.
The Clay Studio, NCECA’s local co-producer, has worked very hard to create an interesting, challenging and well-rounded program. Area Schools, Universities, Museums, Galleries, and Non-Profit and Alternative spaces will play host to exhibitions. Exhibitions will celebrate the incredible diversity of the material, clay, focusing on functional objects and tableware, sculpture, installation and performance. Both the conference and the city of Philadelphia are sure to engage and delight. Please be sure to join us!
