is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Call for Artists in Residence!
The School of Jewellery is pleased to announce its Artist in Residence (AIR) mentoring scheme and invites you to express interest directly to Jo Pond, Lecturer and Artist in Residence Coordinator.
The residency position is in essence, space and facilities in exchange for a small studio mentoring input. You would be given access to bench space and facilities within the School’s outstanding workshops for the duration of the residency, for which there would be no charge.
This should be viewed as an opportunity for you to develop your own work and technical skills in a creative environment, without the constraints of set course work or timetable. It would also allow you to positively extend your CV.
For the full details please watch the School of Jewellery website - info' coming soon!
Deadline date for applications: 1 April 2013
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hothouse Taster Days
Are you an emerging craft maker setting up in business? If you are - join our Maker Development Team for a day of tailored tips and advice at one of four Hothouse TasterDays across the UK this Spring.
At each session a variety of inspiring professional makers will share their experiences of running a successful practice. There will also be business tips and tools from Alison Branagan, author of 'The Essential Guide to Business for Artists and Designers'.
The Hothouse Taster Days are also a great opportunity to find out about the Crafts Council's Hothouse programme for emerging makers - get tips from our Maker Development Team on how to apply, and hear from makers who have taken part.
