The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

The National Trust has planned a programme exploring LGBTQ heritage represented at its places, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England in 2017. They invite an artist or artist collaboration to develop a proposal in response to the theme for a 6-month residency and commission. They are seeking an artist that has a specific interest in LGBTQ history. They would like the artist to engage the perspectives and stories of a diverse group of people including their staff, visitors and LGBTQ community. There is an artist fee of £8,000 and a production and expenses fee of £7,000 (to include production of work, travel, accommodation and expenses).

Residency Opportunity at Site Gallery
Posted on 20.12.2016

OPEN CALL TO SHEFFIELD ARTISTS
Deadline: 5pm Friday 7 January 2017

Site Gallery is hosting a Sheffield Platform Residency in early 2017, supported by Making Ways and the City of Making. The opportunity is open to all contemporary visual artists who live/work in Sheffield.

Platform residencies have led many artists on to national and international success. Artists have credited the experience as a critical moment in their careers with many gaining important opportunities following the residency and using the initial work to fuel several years of artistic development. The residencies are perfect for artists who have an idea for a project that they want to develop. Information on previous Platform Residencies can be found here – http://www.sitegallery.org/?s=platform
