The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Follow ITS 2016 Live!
In an effort to allow as many of you as possible to follow ITS 2016, this very special fifteenth anniversary edition will have its own, official APP downloadable from the Apple App Store and from Google Play Store.
We also wanted everyone to be able to see the Fashion Show during the final evening on Saturday July 16th. Seats for the final evening have always been a thorn in our side: so many requests, so little spots available! This time, the ITS 2016 Fashion Show will be streamed LIVE!
And of course we cannot forget social networks which will focus mainly on our Instagram and Snapchat profiles with reposts on our Facebook and Twitter channels as well! Follow the links below to discover everything you need to know about it!

AJF is hosting a three-day trip to Los Angeles, California, USA September 30 - October 2 to celebrate the opening of Beyond Bling: Jewelry from the Lois Boardman Collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and, as a dedicated supporter of AJF, you are invited to join us!

In the spirit of being flexible, each day is priced separately so you can choose which ones to attend. Each day's price includes lunches, dinners, bus transportation, all entry fees, admission to the symposium, and a copy of the catalog.

It will be a wonderful three days of great food, fantastic jewelry, art, and good company. Visit AJF's website for the full itinerary and sign up for one, two, or even all three days.

It is important to witness this momentous jewelry moment and we hope you join us in the warmth of Los Angeles' sunshine!

About curating. Jie Sun interviewed by klimt02

If we compare the development of other applied arts discipline, such as architecture, fashion, product design, jewellery really needs more innovative contribution.

Call for applications: Talente Competition 2017 Talente was founded in 1980 as international competition for all areas of craft and design. The selected participant can only exhibit once. A participation is only possible until the age of 33 (for the field technique up to 35 years of age). An international jury selects the winners of the "Talente"-Price. The special exhibition is jointly financed by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy and the Bavarian State Ministry for Economics and Media, Energy and Technology.

The aim of Talente is to promote young people with a particular manual talent and to show an interested audience the enormous potential which lies in the new generation in crafts and trades. The works will be the outcome of formal or technical considerations and experiments, showing something new and exceptional.

In an area of 600 m², the works will be shown to a wide audience, with an international jury selecting the winners of the TALENTE prize. An illustrated catalogue will be published.

Participants are chosen from any section of crafts and technology. They will have made the artefact by their own hands. Age limit is set at 33 in the domains of crafts, and at 35 in the domain of technology.
Deadline for all applications will be the 1st October 2016.
The competition is publicly funded. This covers the space on the fair itself, the catalogue entry and part of the transport of the objects to and from Munich.
