The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

The seminar, which coincides with The Company’s exhibition ‘The Silversmith’s Art Made in Britain Today’, gives delegates first-hand experience of how to spot faked or forged items of silverware through lectures from leading silver experts and practical hands-on sessions.

Keynote speaker: Mr Alastair Dickenson, Liveryman of The Goldsmiths’ Company, antique silver dealer and silver expert on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.

This full day includes lunch, a certificate of attendance and the opportunity to visit The Silversmith’s Art: Made in Britain today.

Acclaimed jewellery designer, Stephen Webster, is publishing a book about his career. With a foreword by Tracey Emin, Goldstruck: A life shaped by jewellery, traces Webster’s career back to his days as a student on a jewellery-making course at his local college in Rochester, Kent. It is full of anecdotes and memories, as well as insights into his inspiration and influences, and pictures of many of his pieces.

The book will be available to buy on Amazon from 17th November 2015. Please click here for details. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0956873847/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&...

London-based Lynne MacLachlan combines technology with the artistic process of jewellery design. Her 3D printed pieces make use of light, shape, and colour as avenues of experimentation and blur the boundaries between art, fashion, technology, and design.

About

Award winning jewellery artist Zoe Robertson is a practice based researcher at the School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University. Her current studio practice explores the notion of Jewellery and Performance, in which the relationship between the object, the body and space is explored.

An open-minded approach to challenging the boundaries of jewellery coupled with an intuitive relationship with materials is the driving force and motivation behind her work.
