ACJ Members!!
This winter has seen the opening of the spectacular exhibition of Tudor and Stuart jewellery which forms the Cheapside Hoard. Curated by Hazel Forsyth, this exhibition throws a spotlight on the activities and work of the London goldsmiths of this period. It also draws on detailed archive research by Hazel which reveals the extensive trading patterns which brought some of these jewels to London.

By courtesy of the Museum of London, members of ACJ are invited to attend a private view of the Cheapside Hoard exhibition on either Wednesday 19th March, or Thursday 20th March, 2014, at 9.15 for 9.30 am. It will be an excellent opportunity for members to hear about the Hoard at first hand from Hazel, who will give members a brief introduction. Members will be able to stay on afterwards during the public opening time for as long as they like. Everyone is asked to arrive by 9.15, at the latest, to deposit coats and bags.

Please note: The Museum has a strict cloakroom policy, and no coats or bags will be allowed into the exhibition. There are lockers for all luggage.

Tickets are £12.00 per member. Members may bring a non-member guest at a cost of £15, if applications allow. Numbers are limited to 20 per visit.

If you would like to attend, please complete the attached slip, and return it with your cheque, payable to ACJ, to Association for Contemporary Jewellery, PO Box 37807, London, SE23 1XJ. Please give the name(s) of those who will come, and say whether you would prefer to attend on 19th March, 20th March or either.

Please apply by 28th February. The spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Hello, Happy New Year!

Before we know it, Spring will be here and we are using nature as inspiration for this upcoming exciting workshop.

As you have expressed an interested in, or attended a previous jewellery workshop at Making Space, we thought this might be of interest to you.

Aimed at creating beautiful jewellery inspired by natural materials such as flowers and wood, it’s a workshop that appeals to many.

Saturday 15 February, 10am-3pm – Forage and Form.

If you’d like any more information or are interested in booking please get in touch as soon as possible. As with all Making space courses places are limited and we require a minimum attendee number to make the course viable to run.

The course costs just £48 and we accept cash, cheques and card payments.

Please feel free to pass this information (flyer attached) on to any one you think might be interested.

Thank you for your time

Kind regards
Megan

Working closely with the Head of Technical Services and the Dean of the School of Material, you will provide leadership of the technical facilities and staff in Material and the provision of a technical support service to College students, alumni, staff and external clients as required. You will lead in the planning and development of facilities and services and the development of staff expertise to meet learning, research and commercial needs.

You will have proven ability of managing a large team, experience of service development and strategic planning, significant operational management experience within your own area of technical expertise, and experience of business development, external networking and partnership development. Experience of working in a research, industry, or commercial income-generating environment and specialist technical knowledge in one or more aspects of the facilities in the School of Material would be an advantage.
