The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Graduate Assistant - 3D Design

University College Falmouth

Salary: £15,001 to £17,179 per annum.
12 month fixed term (Graduate Placement)

This role is designed to give graduates the opportunity to use their skills and knowledge to make a valuable contribution to the University College whilst developing employability skills and gaining quality work experience. You will be required to complete a technical project over the 12 month period to complete the internship, and this will involve supporting the integration of digital technologies within the workshops into the wider curriculum through the implementation of specific technical projects. This will include development of online laser cutter guidance, including file preparation. You will also provide practical day-to-day support within the Design Centre.

You will have a Degree in Art & Design from University College Falmouth, and will require good attention to detail and an understanding of the work of students. You should also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe products with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Crafts Residencies 2012

 

Cove Park will award a minimum of two Crafts residencies, of up to three months each, to take place during our May to September 2012 programme. UK and international applicants are welcome to apply.   We will also award a residency of one month to an emerging designer/maker based in Scotland.  The deadline for applications is Friday 27 January 2012.

Today - Saturday 14th January

For this exhibition we have invited 12 contemporary jewellers to respond to the work of printmaker Angie Lewin whose work is inspired by plants and gardens. Angie Lewin's prints will form part of the exhibition to complement the jewellery and vice versa. Jewellers include Alan Ardiff, Laura Baxter, Jessica Briggs, Shona Carnegie, Paul Finch, Catherine Hills, Clare Knox-Bentham, Julia MacGregor, Ruth Praill, Nikolay Sardamov Simone Salandini and Ruth Tomlinson.

Call for Entries: Have You Designed and/or Made Jewellery For the Screen?

Call for entries - A unique exhibition celebrating jewellery in the Movies and TV will

be held between 11th -17th June 2012 at Somerset House, London as part of

London Jewellery Week.

To mark the move to Somerset House during London Jewellery Week, Treasure will

host a ‘Jewellery on Screen’ exhibition, celebrating the design and craftsmanship of

the jewellers who have created iconic pieces for film.

The ondon Jewellery Week Team already have an impressive collection of

confirmed exhibits but would love to hear about pieces that you have created.

The exhibition will run for the duration of Jewellery Week and will be supported by a

VIP evening, catalogue, talks and film screenings.

Brooke Gregson UK LTD is looking for someone who can

do administrative work for a small Jewellery company.

The candidate should be confident with Microsoft Word and Excel and invoicing and

should also be very organised. Experience in the Jewellery business would be preferred.

This is a part-time position which could then turn into a possible full-time position.

Starting wage is £10 an hour, contract will be renegotiable after first 30 days.
