is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

We are looking for a few more volunteers to help on the ACJ stand at the Goldsmiths' Hall for the Make Your Mark event, organised by the Assay Office London. In particular for Tuesday 31 October (but offers for the 1 Nov would also be gratefully received!).

This is aimed at students on precious metal courses across the UK.

We need people to staff our stall and tell visitors about ACJ and the benefits of being a member.

If you could spare a few hours it would really help.

On Tuesday 31st October,  the event is open 10.30am to 5.30pm.

On Wednesday 1st November, the event will open at 10.00 am and finishes at 4.00pm.

If you are able to help, please email me at enquiries@acj.org.uk

THANK YOU!

LOEWE Craft Prize 2nd edition - Submissions now open

In 2016, the LOEWE FOUNDATION launched the international annual LOEWE Craft Prize to showcase and celebrate newness, excellence and artistic merit in modern craftsmanship. Aiming to acknowledge the importance of craft in today’s culture and recognise artisans whose talent, vision and will to innovate will set a standard for the future, LOEWE Creative Director Jonathan Anderson conceived the initiative inspired by LOEWE’s beginnings as a craft cooperative in 1846. ‘Craft is the essence of LOEWE. As a house, we are about craft in the purest sense of the word. That is where our modernity lies, and it will always be relevant,’ Anderson has stated.

German wood artist Ernst Gamperl was selected as the winner of the 2017 edition among 26 finalists from close to 4,000 submissions representing over 75 countries on five continents. Listen to him sharing his experience and advice.

Find out how to participate to the LOEWE Craft Prize 2018.

Based in Brentford, West London, we are a small to medium workshop specializing in high end lighting and furniture for London and International interior design projects. We are looking for experienced crafts metal workers to work full time and part time.

We work mainly in brass and mild steel and have various hand and machine tools in the workshop including pipe and section bender, metal rollers, metal lathe, cross cut saw, mig welder, gas braising equipment, patination tanks, polishing wheel and linishing belts, circle cutter, guillotine and sheet metal folder. You can see our Pinterest page for examples of the kind of work we are involved with. A keen eye for detail, ability to work from technical design drawings, friendly and positive attitude, understanding of quality would all be bonus.
